Lot of Two Percussion Pistols

1.) .38" caliber. 9.675" barrel length. SN: NSN. Blued octagonal barrel with gray finished mountings and lock, and mounting walnut stocks. Single shot percussion target pistol with screw adjustable rear and dovetailed front blade sights. The lock, triggerguard, pommel cap, and forend cap all show spiral scroll engraving with further scroll appearing on the original screw heads. The wedge pin and plates lack any such embellishments and appear to be replaced. The barrel shows a dovetail cut at mid length for mounting a ramrod loop but no ramrod is present and the cut has been filled in. The lock is unsigned, but the initial J appears on the underside of the breech.

2.) .32" caliber. 7.5" barrel length. SN: 16. Bright cleaned and polished metal finish overall with walnut one piece grips mounting German silver oval plates. Single shot percussion underhammer pistol with octagonal to round barrel. Item mounts a V-notch rear sight with traces of a brass bead front that has broken off. The item is unsigned but shows the number 19 on the underside of the octagonal to round barrel. The lock is unsigned.

This lot is located in Cincinnati.

1.) Very Good. Bore is Dark with oxidation throughout. Some further oxidized spots appear on the nipple, and around the rear sight. The blued barrel shows some streaking and thinning overall with a freckled patina forming over the muzzle and front sight. Metal fittings show a gray patina forming with brown to the handling surfaces. Wedge pin head and plates are deformed. There are cracks running from the forend on both sides through to the first fixing pin for the wedge plates. There is a further split through the forward edge of the butt with some flaking surrounding it and some glue residue from repair. Stock shows scattered handling wear, mars and dings. Action is functional.

2.) Good. Bore is Very Dark with pitting and oxidation throughout. Finish overall shows buffing marks from aggressive cleaning with mottled patina forming on the gripstrap and around the action. The grips fit loosely with rounded edges suggesting they have been sanded. Grips show some discolorations, dings, and mars. Action is nonfunctional as the hammer fails to lock back.
