About 8 Bore. 9.5" barrel length. SN: NSN. Damascus steel barrel with walnut stock, brass fittings, and a saddle ring to the left stock. Single shot percussion shotgun with short stock that has been engraved with a ram head motif to the toe that fades into the checkering on the wrist. Item is missing the triggerguard, and has a facsimile ramrod engraved into the forend. The tip of the forend and the wrist behind the ram's head feature pressed sheep wool patterned details. The hammer is rough with a wheat sheaf pattern struck into its exposed flank. The nipple is set in the remnants of a pan, with the screw holes for mounting the frizzen spring now empty.
Good. Bore is Very Dark with pitting and brown patina throughout. The exterior metal surfaces show traces of varnish applied overall and are dominated by a gray patina darkening to brown on the recesses. Item shows a patina forming over the brass items. Toe of the stock is cracked, and the stock shows some mars and handling wear overall. The tip of the forend has broken off on the right side. The triggerguard is missing, and the action remains functional.
