Standard markings include {Rampant Colt} logo to the left sideplate and POLICE/POSITIVE .38 SPECIAL on the left barrel. Top of the barrel shows two-line address and patent mark reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A./PAT'D AUG. 5. 1884. JULY 4. 1905. OCT. 5. 1926. The backstrap is inscribed U.S. MINT with the butt displaying rack number No. 138.
