exterior rim with four transfer images, comprising a portrait of John Adams surrounded by allegories of Justice and Abundance; a 'Virtue and Valour' scene of a full-length George Washington standing on a lion; the Phrygian cap with banners for Liberty and Independence; and a map of the United States flanked by Washington and Benjamin Franklin with allegorical figures.
interior initialed DR with color transfer of an American clipper ship, the inner rim decorated with various symbols of science, war, and industry.
