In overall fair and stable condition, although not unframed for examination. Yellowing to varnish, with significant deposits of grime and spotting throughout painted surface. Areas of moderate to heavy scratching present to each, with associated paint loss, most notable at lady's neck and chest. Gentleman's panel with two visible splits, and lady's with one. Under UV light examination, minor areas of inpainting visible to gentleman's jacket and throughout each frame. Each with Christie's labels affixed to verso, bearing alphanumeric notation NH595.
