Great Lakes Schooner Racer

The Racer was launched on May 8, 1856, as a merchant vessel for Mixer and Bros. Her home port was in Cleveland, Ohio.

Private collection, Binghamton, New York.
Framed: 37 1/4 x 50 1/2 inches.
In overall fair and stable condition, with even craquelure throughout and frame abrasions along upper edge. Faint areas of impact crackle visible to sky. Errant mark present within rigging, with additional red marks, possibly an illegible inscription, visible at lower right beneath frame. Canvas has been relined, but areas of patching and repairs are still visible to the verso, with corresponding areas of inpainting visible under UV light examination. Please request additional images.
