.300 Savage. 24" barrel length. SN: 713446. Blued refinish with color casehardened lever and jeweled bolt set in a polished walnut semi pistol grip stock with white line spacers. Lever action internal rotary magazine fed repeating rifle featuring a round counter to the left frame and custom engraved embellishments. The upper left side of the receiver is marked SAVAGE/MODEL 99 alongside the caliber marking .300 SAVAGE on the left barrel. Right barrel is marked HI-PRESSURE STEEL - PROOF TESTED with the final word polished down to faint during the refinish. The barrel is marked SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION/CHICOPEE FALLS. MASS. U.S.A. The sights consist of a dovetailed LYMAN front brass bead sight and an adjustable REDFIELD Savage 99 rear peep sight. The drilled and tapped receiver mounts a two piece Weaver scope base adjusted to the Savage 99, and the item has had a spacer installed in the original rear sight dovetail on the barrel and displays the initials WCH. The engraving remains crisp, indicating that it was applied after the refinish. The right receiver has been engraved with a vignette of a silver {Mountain Lion} slinking atop a rock with tangles of trees filling the background. Surrounding this vignette and wrapping around the receiver to the left side are scrollwork embellishments with beaded grounds. The left receiver shows a male and female deer bounding through a meadow toward the forward receiver. Further scroll engraving flows over the muzzle and breech of the barrel, along the tang, and along both sides of the forward triggerguard. The rifle is set in a polished fancy walnut stock with skip line checkering to the wrist and forend. The left stock features an extended cheek piece, and both the pistol grip cap and froend cap are rosewood with white line spacers. The butt mounts a Pachmayr WHITE LINE JUNIOR recoil pad with two white line spacers and a single black synthetic spacer. The forend and the toe of the buttstock are fitted with sling swivels and studs.
