Beyond a Cincinnati Legacy: The Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fleischmann III, Part I

Frame: 16 7/8 x 18 7/8 inches.

In overall fair and stable condition. Each with light deposits of dust and fine networks of craquelure throughout painted surface. Portrait of the lady with light deposits of grime throughout, including flaky area of residue to lower left corner. Both treated by Wieblod Studios, Cincinnati, Ohio in 1964 for cupping and minor holes, which were patched. Each was cleaned and revarnished. Portrait of the man was relined prior to 1964 treatment.

Under UV light examination, inpainting visible to background of lady's portrait just above her head and to the upper right corner, with few other scattered areas to background and vase. Areas of fluorescence present in gentleman's portrait to background near head, right hand, and waist, with few additional spots to perimeter filling old frame abrasions. Both frames with light scratching and areas of finish loss; small piece of applied ornament to frame of man's portrait at lower left corner detached but present.
