In overall fine and stable condition. Retains a dark, rich surface throughout. Scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Smooth drawer action. Age cracks visible to the sides of the case. The drawer pulls, while seemingly early and having spent a long time on the chest, are likely replacements. Appears to retain the original lock mechanisms with functioning keys. Few areas of loss to the molded edges of the case and base.  The corner molding of each drawer shows minor losses consistent with use. Top left drawer face has a triangular patch in the lower right corner.  The second drawer from the bottom has a 2” x 5” patch to the lower right corner.  The lowest drawer and stand show old ink splatter residue. The two outer drawers in the top row were previously fitted with Quaker locks that have since broken off. Two of the knee returns appear to be early replacements.
