Engraving of the Union Bank of Halifax building at left, ink "paid" stamp near right (check with full vertical split near center, but intact and not impacting Bell's signature, loss to top right corner resulting in partial loss to "9" in "1909").

The check is accompanied by a typed cover letter signed by Bell’s daughter, Elsie May Bell Grosvenor (1878-1964), addressed to "Mrs. Pool." "Wild Acres," [MD], 13 March 1940. 1 page, 5 3/8 x 6 3/4 in., "Mrs. Gilbert Grosvenor, 'Wild Acres'" letterhead, folds. Mrs. Grosvenor conveys the cancelled check signed by her father to Mrs. Pool.
