Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust; a small area of debris adhered to the varnish layer along the upper edge, from the frame rabbet. Under UV light: area of uneven varnish application in the dark tones of the doorway obscure viewing of possible inpainting; small area of inpainting above the man's head and pinpoint dots of inpainting to the lower area of the man's robe; small area of inpainting along the center left edge and in the lower left corner; small dots of inpainting in the lower right corner; certain pigments fluoresce under UV light, but may be inherent to certain pigments, such as the darker reds and browns.
