Clipped signature. -- THOMAS, George Henry (1816-1870). Clipped signature as Major General. -- ROSECRANS, William (1819-1898). Clipped signature as Major General. -- PORTER, David Dixon (1813-1891). Clipped signature as Admiral. -- PAULDING, Hiram (1797-1878). Clipped signature. Paulding was a Rear Admiral during the War of 1812 and the Civil War.
[With:] 5 signatures of Confederate officers and Southern personalities, including: BEAUREGARD, P.G.T. (1818-1893). Clipped signature. -- WHARTON, John (1828-1865). Clipped signature attributed to Confederate General John Wharton (some ink burn). -- THOMPSON, John Reuben (1823-1873). Autograph note signed ("Jno. R. Thompson"), with "Editor of the Southern Lit. Messenger" written below his name (residue to verso). Thompson asks that any "critical notices" be sent to him immediately. -- PETERS, Caroline C., cousin to Custis Lee. Autograph letter signed ("Caroline C. Peters"). 863 Broadway [n.p.]. N.d. Peters writes to her cousin Custis Lee about meeting. With calling card identified to "Miss Peters," and accompanying envelope addressed to "Mr. Custis Lee." -- G?, Clint. Autograph letter signed ("Clint G.") New York. 16 September, no year. Addressed to Custis Lee, the letter references a meeting with Major Emory on his way to El Paso. The writer, who also appears to be going to El Paso, asks that Custis direct any letters to him at El Paso.
