CDV, standing view of John S. Slocum, 2nd Rhode Island Infantry, KIA Bull Run 7/21/1861. Uncredited (small chip to lower right edge of print, otherwise very fine condition). -- CDV, vignetted view of William Sprague, the 27th Governor of Rhode Island who served during the Civil War. New York: E. & H.T. Anthony (toning, soiling to print; lower right corner loss to mount). Sprague fought at the First Battle of Bull Run as a volunteer and was offered a commission as a Brigadier General of Volunteers for his service. However, Sprague declined the appointment. From the governorship, he was elected to the US Senate in 1863 and served in that body until 1875. -- CDV of unidentified soldier. Boston, MA, and Newport, RI: Black & Case, 1865.
