The People Must Free the 21!! / Be at 100 Centre St., Friday, Feb. 27 12:00 Noon. [New York]: [Black Panther Party, 1970]. 8 1/2 x 14 in. printed poster (light creasing, central horizontal fold). The poster continues, "On Feb. 25, Judge John Murtagh indefinitely "recessed" the preliminary hearings for the thirteen Black Panthers who are on trial for an alleged conspiracy to bomb department stores, railroad and police stations, and the botanical gardens," with statements issued by Murtagh printed below. The Black Panthers state, in part..."The Panthers are a symbol of the fight for self-determination and an end to institutional racism. From their example, people are beginning to understand that the freeing of the Panthers and all black political prisoners cannot simply take place in the courtroom, but must also take place in the institutions the Panthers are fighting to change...."
