Bonnie Cashin Cape, Coat with Belt, Dress with Belt, Hooded Sweater, Two Sketches, 1960-70s

THE FIRST
This group includes a coat and a copy of a sketch of the coat. The copy of the sketch includes a swatch of the fabric that is stapled to the sketch. The copy of the sketch features the signature of the designer "Bonnie Cashin" and the date "Mar 73".

Grey wool coat lined with a red, orange, and black wool plaid. This one-piece coat is cut with a separate vest that is sewn to the coat at the side seams. The coat is cut with a wide lapel, raglan sleeves, a pocket sewn over each hip, and closes down the center front of the vest with three snaps and a belt. The vest is made of plaid on the exterior, lined with grey wool, and trimmed with black leather.

THE SECOND
This group includes a cape, hooded knit top, and copy of a sketch of the cape. The copy of the sketch features the cape and a swatch of a similar fabric to the one actually used, along with the name of the designer "Bonnie Cashin", the year "Feb 1975", and the message "A great swirly hunk of beautiful fabric with a belted scarf front - worn with a leather skirt and jersey shirt"

Cape
The cape is made of a dark grey/purple Alpaca-style fabric (fiber unidentified) that is cut with a wide sweep and edged with brown suede. The cape's collar extends into panels at the center front. These panels are shown in the illustration as being belted to the body, but this cape does not come with a belt.

Hooded Top
Black knit top with a hood that features a point at the center front. The top is a pull-over style that closes at the center front neck with snaps. The top is trimmed with black leather around the hood and center front closure.

Condition:

THE FIRST
The overall condition of the coat is very good with no condition issues. The copy of the sketch is in good condition.

THE SECOND
The overall condition is very good with no condition issues. The same for the illustration. The black knit top is in fair condition with a hole in the knit at the back left waist and one in the sleeve. There are also several popped seams.

THE THIRD
The overall condition is poor with several small holes in the center front waistline and center back hip. There are several popped seams and small brown spots on the dress.
