CDV standing portrait of a pair of Scottish athletes, Donald Dinnie and James Heming, wearing kilts, sporrans, and numerous medals from their various athletic victories. Aberdeen, Scotland: A. Dinnie, [1872] (toning, rip to upper left edge, some soiling and wear to mount). Dinnie's imprint to mount recto and verso. Ink inscriptions identify the two men and date the image to July of 1872. Donald Dinnie (1837-1916) was a Scottish strongman, widely regarded as the nineteenth century's greatest athlete. -- Cabinet card portrait of a Scottish man, identified as a junior officer of the Black Watch, armed with daggers and a claymore sword, and wearing his dress uniform.
