Ebonized wood, height 6 3/4 x length 14 x width 5 inches. Details include various decks, two funnels, armaments, a paddle wheel, and pilot house. (Wear, beam broken, scattered loss to finish). Handpainted number in white near rudders "3783."
Gunboats of the Mississippi Squadron were involved in extensive operations in inland shallow waters, and played a critical role in the struggle for control of the Mississippi River during the Civil War.
