Lithograph, 1865, image 8 7/16 x 11 3/4 in. (visible 10 x 13 3/8 in.), on wove paper, creases, minor spotting, framed to 12 1/4 x 15 1/8 in. (not examined out of frame).
Completed in manuscript for William J. Martindale of the 5th New York Heavy Artillery. Martindale enlisted on 11 January 1864 at Oxford, NY as a private, mustering in the same day into Company H of the 5th New York Heavy Artillery. He was captured as a POW at the Battle of Cedar Creek (19 October 1864) and died of disease while confined at Salisbury, NC on 14 January 1865.
