7 3/4 x 4 3/4 in. silver gelatin photograph on 9 1/4 x 6 1/4 in. cardstock mount (light toning, some spots of discoloration, minor soiling and wear to edges, mount with surface soiling, discoloration, and wear to edges and corners). Mount recto bears Hobson's imprint along with additional Hobson handstamp partly over image.
A horse-drawn wagon marked "J.H. Gwin, the Whittier Grocer," is parked in front of the store, along with several men posed looking at the camera. The store is outfitted with a good deal of signage, including for products it presumably sold.
