The author writes from the Chickasaw Nation to a friend speculating about the political future of the region: "There are several bills before congress to bring this country in as Territory. Do not know what will be done about it if it comes in. It is a fine country & you would do well to come here."
Oklahoma Territory would not be incorporated until 1890 and the state of Oklahoma was founded in 1907.
