Original printed wrappers (short tears or chips at edges). FIRST EDITION, listed as "New York Times Edition." An investigative report into the Tweed Ring, especially by examining the accounting in 1869, 1870, and 1871. Considered "the Times's first triumph as an investigative newspaper." (25 May 2015, The New York Times). The paper started by publishing small details before issuing this pamphlet and a German-language edition, reportedly selling more than 500,000 copies (Ackerman, Boss Tweed).
