Freeman’s Jewelry & Watches Set to Dazzle Auction Block on November 3

Freeman’s Jewelry & Watches sale is set to dazzle the auction block on November 3 with exceptional diamonds and fine gemstones from private collections. More than 200 lots covering a range of styles from Edwardian and Victorian to Art Deco and Contemporary will appeal to jewelry enthusiasts at home and abroad.A fancy yellow diamond, platinum, and eighteen karat gold ring

The spotlight falls on the 9.69 carat diamond and platinum ring ($75,000-95,000). A true show-stopper, the pear-shaped diamond flanked by triangle-cut diamonds is outstanding and accompanied by GIA report. Another highlight is a fancy yellow diamond, platinum, and eighteen karat gold ring ($60,000-80,000). This ring’s natural yellow colored diamond weighing 5.11 carats will entice those with an affinity for uniquely colored gems. Rounding out the auction are several noteworthy jewels include an emerald, diamond, platinum, and gold enhancer ($30,000-50,000), a diamond and onyx eighteen karat gold collar necklace ($20,000-30,000), and eighteen karat gold ring with an 8.68 carat oval colored diamond  surrounded by pear-shaped diamonds ($30,000-50,000).

The Jewelry & Watches Exhibition opens on Wednesday, October 29. Also on view will be select Jewellery & Watches from Freeman’s sister auction house in Scotland Lyon & Turnbull. Highlights from their sale include the collection of fine watches and jewellery acquired by Andrew McMillian, Baron of Cleghorn. Notable pieces from the collection include an IWC Grande Complication (£60,000-80,000), a large aquamarine and diamond set Art Deco brooch (£5,000-8,000), and a substantial sapphire and diamond set cluster ring (£25,000-35,000). One of the more unusual items not to be missed is a large yellow sapphire and diamond set cluster ring; showcasing a 15.44ct yellow sapphire in a border or old European cut diamonds (£4,000-7,000).

A diamond and onyx eighteen karat gold collar necklace Another private collection of interest is that that of author Lady Mary Stewart, which features a range of opals, diamonds and other gem set items, as well as some bespoke pieces designed and made by Cartier London. Famous for her historical and romantic suspense novels, Lady Stewart commissioned a one-off piece from Cartier to celebrate the publication of her 1962 novel, "The Moon-Spinners." A more contemporary take on the classic crescent brooch, it features a yellow diamond set crescent moon in a spiraling surround of colorless diamonds (£20,000-30,000). Lyon & Turnbull’s Jewellery & Watches auction takes place in Edinburgh on the December 10. For additional information, please visit www.lyonandturnbull.com.
